Excursion to IFF
On Tuesday afternoon from 4-6pm there will be an excursion to the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF in Magdeburg. Bus transfer will be available.
Program:
6 p.m. Conclusion and return to the Herrenkrug Hotel
The Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation’s Virtual Development and Training Centre (VDTC) Construction on a high-tech research and training center for virtual technology will begin in the Magdeburg Scientific Port in the fall of 2004: The new building will house the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation’s Virtual Development and Training Centre (VDTC).
Business and Science – A Meeting of Two Worlds in Virtual Space In this network center, scientists will work interdisciplinarily together with service providers and industrial users. Promising prospects will result especially for startups and spin-offs: The VDTC is open to collaboration with external partners. Companies are already now profiting from the potentials of virtual technology and the Fraunhofer IFF already provides scientists such services. The range of services encompasses a broad spectrum of individual offerings, which can be directly customized to clients needs. Applications are cost effective and realtime so that they are also extremely well suited for small and medium-sized enterprises. Cooperation with the university as well as national and international partners makes the VDTC being constructed a powerful partner for innovations in Central Germany. Development, Tests and Training with Virtual Reality: Customized and Realistic With a strong orientation toward practical application, the VDTC will use virtual development and training platforms to
develop customized solutions together with any client. Interactive simulations and visualizations make it possible to realistically render complicated technical systems and products. What is more, VDTC technology provides remarkable opportunities for training technical staff. These applications are particularly interesting, when humans and machines closely interact at interfaces such as in an airplane cockpit. Whether virtual process engineering, product development, product documentation, functional tests or virtual prototyping, the VDTC, specialized in the most modern Virtual Reality technologies, can provide the highest level of expertise in all these fields.
